About the Author

David Dangerfield commenced his martial career in 1974.

He received his 6th Dan in Aikido from Thamby Rajah Sensei in Malaysia in 2012 during the 100 Years of Aikido celebrations.

In 2006 he received the scroll of Shomokuroku in Shinto Muso Ryu from Nishioka Tsuneo Sensei, Menkyo Kaiden, Hanshi and Hachidan.

Dangerfield became a member of the International Yoshinkan Aikido Federation under Shioda Gozo sensei in 1992 and began teaching full time on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.

In 2014 his now independent organisation, the Kenshinryu 剣神流, celebrates its 23rd anniversary as a full time martial arts organisation.

As Head Master of the Kenshinryu, Dangerfield teaches a very Koryu-influenced Aikido in addition to Shinto Muso Ryu around Australia and overseas. The Kenshinryu ( was named in honour of the significant contribution made by Nishioka Sensei to the foundations of the schools style where the role of Uchidachi/Uke as teacher is a prominent emphasis.

In 2003 Dangerfield founded the Compass Institute (, a registered charity employing over 30 specialist staff providing post-school education, training and vocational support to over 70 people with disabilities through 5 centres in South East Queensland. While it is a ‘civic’ organisation, Compass uniquely operates entirely on the philosophy and practices of Budo.

In January 2014 David Dangerfield was awarded Sunshine Coast Australian of the Year and was presented with his trophy at the Sunshine Coast Regional Council Award ceremony.

Love Learn Live – About the Author

In her early twenties, after a whirlwind love affair, Csilla left university and rode off into the sunset on the back of her soul-mate’s motorbike.

Within five years, she’d borne four children, and had soon begun the consuming journey of homeschooling her offspring.

Fifteen years on, she is Queensland’s foremost homeschooling consultant with clients across the state.

In amongst what some might argue was a fairly hectic schedule, Csilla has also been a commissioned artist, a Yoga student, an Aikido student, a part-time model (but not an air-hostess) and, in more recent years, a tutor and a homeschooling consultant.

Csilla lives with her partner of 21 years, Tim. She is also surrounded by her many children, a dog called Zen, a cat they named Pimp (he used to work the street) and some wonderful friends.

Csilla hopes to continue loving and learning with her family, writing books, working with other families through her consultancy, living by the beach and doing as much Yoga as she can feasibly fit in.

Love Learn Live launched

Icon Publishing is proud to announce the launch of ‘Love Learn Live‘.

‘Love Learn Live’ is one mother’s heart-warming story about how she and her family chose to love, learn and live with their children rather than give them up to the ‘system’ at an early age.

It delves, controversially at times, tenderly at others, into the philosophies and values that are causing more and more families to consider educating their children from home, and highlights the many benefits that can result for the whole family.

‘Love Learn Live’ explores (and detonates) many of the fears and myths associated with ‘homeschooling’, including the most prevalent and misunderstood of all concerns – the all-important SOCIAL question.

It also reminds all parents that they are in fact natural teachers, something that most of us have forgotten.

It leaves the reader with a clear message. Educating children within a loving home environment is not only a valid educational choice, but a choice of incredible empowerment and FREEDOM.
